As we talk about quite often, the radio stations that will thrive in future years will be the ones that think about themselves as more than just radio station brands. Consider making one of your New Year’s resolutions to be stretching your brand into new areas, so consumer engagement with your brand occurs in other places beyond the FM transmitter.
Our friends at Z100/New York – Tom Poleman, Marketing Director Darren Pfeffer and the rest of the team – as they often do- lead the way in this regard. Z100’s upcoming Jingle Ball is no longer just a radio station concert event. The station is partnering with TV cable channel Fuse to televise it for the first time.
The event is helping stretch the station’s brand from a merely a hit-music station to an entertainment brand, reflecting the lifestyle and interests of Z100 fans. Kim Kardashian is one of the guest hosts, and the backstage pre-show is hosted by blink-182’s Mark Hoppus (who also hosts a show on Fuse) and Allison Hagendorf, another Fuse host.

Of course, the Z has resources that most stations do not…but center your thinking about what resources you DO have at your disposal to stretch your brand and touch your listeners in new areas.
